This year, with the sponsorship of Messina Hof, the competition handed out the new Texas Vintner’s Rising Star Awards, given to up-and-coming Lone Star wineries with best red and the best white.

The winner in the red division was KE Cellars for its 2007 4 U Syrah while Enoch’s Stomp Vineyard & Winery won best white for its 2008 Blanc du Bois Off-Dry white.

Among the Grand Star winners were the following Texas wineries:

  • Driftwood Estate Winery won best red table wine for its 2006 Lone Star Cab.
  • Grape Creek Vineyards won best white table wine for its 2008 Lost Draw Vineyards Viognier.
