Several years ago, Kevin Cacy tasted Navajo fry bread on a trip to New Mexico and knew he had to be able to make it for himself. After more than three years of playing around with the recipe, he was finally ready to share his vision with the public.
The result is available only on Thursdays at Bunsen Burgers, 5456 Walzem Road. It features the flat bread as the base and is then topped with green chiles, ground beef, pinto beans, onions (grilled or raw), tomatoes, lettuce and shredded cheddar. A vegan version with no cheese or meat but more pintos is also available.
The fry bread sells for $7.95
