Daily Dish: Feeding the Fire at Chuy’s Annual Green Chile Festival

Print Friendly

Chuy’s will celebrate its 21st annual Green Chile Festival, which starts Monday, with a fire department theme this year — decorating its  restaurants to match.

The Feeding the Fire theme will be represented with the special menu, featuring five new food items and one new drink.  Check out the new Stuffed Jalapeños with panko breading; Beef Tacos Norteños with Mexican slaw; Green Chile BBQ Chicken; sour cream Enchiladas Blancas, available with either veggie or chicken filling; and Steak Tampiqueña.  In addition to the appetizer and entrées, all customers during the festival will get to try a new warm salsa made with green chiles, arbol chiles, serranos, cilantro and tomatillos.

Chuy’s is also introducing the Mexican Mojito, made with Cuervo Tradicionál Tequila, to help wash it all down and cool the burn.

Chuy’s employees will also be reaching out to their local fire stations, dropping off food and letting firefighters know about their year-round special: Firefighters in uniform always receive a 50 percent discount off their food when they visit Chuy’s.

Chuy’s Green Chile Festival will run through Sept. 13 at participating Chuy’s locations statewide. San Antonio’s Chuy’s are at 18008 U.S. 281 near Loop 1604 and 14855  I-35 N. in Selma.
