Drinks: Fruit in a Muddle — a Very Good Thing

Print Friendly

The secret to a great cocktail is fresh, natural ingredients.  This summer, drinks that feature muddled fruit are all the rage.  To make these drinks at home all you need is a muddler (or a pestle or even a spoon) and fresh fruit.  Simply muddle the fruit in the bottom of a mixing glass by pressing firmly with a muddler. Then add the remaining ingredients.  (Crushing, mashing, piercing or pounding is not needed; think bruise and press.  The process of muddling helps to release juice and essential oils from the fruit.)  Once your fruit is muddled add vodka and mixers, stir or shake, then enjoy.
