NIOSA Recipe: On a Mission for Sangria Slush

Sangria at NIOSA

Sangria is a celebratory, wine-and-fruit drink from Spain. And, you’ll find it in the Mission Trail area at a Night in Old San Antonio this week. It has its own NIOSA touch, though — it’s made slushy style.

If you aren’t going out, it is easy to make yourself. The recipe below makes a blender full. That should be enough for you and a friend to have a little NIOSA party right at home.

Sangria Slush

2½ cups red wine, not too heavy, such as a Spanish Rioja or a Sangiovese, or a rosé of Cabernet
1 cup sweet and sour mix
1 cup apricot nectar
½ cup orange juice
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup sprite

Mix ingredients in blender and then add plenty of ice (but not so much it flows over the blender).  Serve slushed.

Makes 4 drinks.
