Gorky Gonzalez, a ceramic craftsman from Guanajuato, has created a whole line of dishes that are perfect for any fiesta. The pieces are available at Melissa Guerra Tienda de Cocina at the Pearl Brewery, 200 E. Grayson St.
Plates of several sizes, bowls, serving dishes and little trays all bearing the word “Fiesta” on them are idea for any gathering, but no more so than during San Antonio’s annual Fiesta, which will arrive in a few weeks.
Some of the dishes are made especially for this year’s celebration and include the year 2011. Others can be used for any party. Each piece is slightly different, so no two are alike, Guerra says.
Gonzalez was born in Morelia, Michoacán, in 1939, according to his website. He is the son of sculptor Rodolfo Gonzalez, with whom he worked.
The hand-painted dishes are all lead-free.
