If you are a woman who has always dreamed of a culinary career, you may qualify for scholarship help from one of the country’s leading culinary organizations.
The San Antonio Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier (LDEI) is offering scholarships to area women who wish to pursue or re-enter the work force in a career of food/culinary arts, wine, hospitality and agriculture industries.
The applicant must demonstrate financial need and attend an accredited institution to be eligible for an award.
If you are currently enrolled in an educational institution, you’ll need to submit a copy of your transcripts with the application and meet the minimum requirements.
Application forms are available on the Web site of the San Antonio Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier: www.ldeisanantonio.org or from the financial aid office of the school or by requesting one by email by contacting the scholarship chairwoman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your completed application must be mailed to: Les Dames d’Escoffier, c/o Diane Thomas, P.O. Box 17812, San Antonio, Texas 78217, no later than April 16, 2012. Successful scholarship recipients will be notified no later than May 28. Funds will be sent directly to the named educational institution no later than August 31, 2012.
LDEI is a non-profit international association of women in achievement with careers in food, wine, hospitality and agriculture and is dedicated to assisting others through scholarships; the “Green Tables” initiative where chapters help to bring about education at all levels to enhance fresh food supply and preparation, in addition to other local projects. Past awards have been made to local women attending The University of The Incarnate Word, St. Phillips College, Johnson and Wales, and The Culinary Institute of America.
