EZ’s Brick Oven and Grill is getting ready to launch a benefit for San Antonio Sports’ Valero Go!Kids Challenge.
On San Antonio Sports Saturdays, from Feb. 23 through April 20, guests at all four San Antonio locations of EZ’s can drop their receipts into a specially marked box at the counter. From a tally of those receipts, the restaurant will donate a percentage of the pre-tax proceeds to San Antonio Sports and earmarked specifically for the Valero Go!Kids Challenge.
“EZ’s has always been about being a good neighbor,” says Suzy Monford, president of EZ’s. “It’s a pleasure to offer this fundraising opportunity to an organization that shares our passion for good overall health, especially for our children.”
EZ’s will also be providing healthy snacks at the Valero Go!Kids Challenge kick-off at Cambridge Elementary School on Feb. 20 while providing incentives to coaches who incorporate the challenge into their regular physical education programs.
With the motto, “Run, Walk, Jump, Play 60 Minutes Every Day and Drink Water,” the program is designed to inspire children to maintain healthy lifestyles. Children are given a log to track their exercise and water intake for eight weeks, or they can do it online at GoKidsChallenge.com. The program ends with the Valero Go!Kids Challenge Field Day presented by H-E-B celebrating the children’s successful completion of the program. This year’s field day will be held on April 21 at the Alamodome.
“We recognized the need for children to have access to good information about healthy living more than 10 years ago, so we developed this program,” says San Antonio Sports’ associate executive director for external affairs, Mary Ullmann Japhet. “The number of participants has increased every year and we are so glad that EZ’s has joined as one of our corporate sponsors this year.”
