It’s Corn for a Good Cause

Chef Steve McHugh will host an old-fashioned corn roast at 4 p.m. Sept 22 at the Friendly Spot, 943 S. Alamo St.

Chef Steve Corn Roast designThe event is a benefit for the South Central Texas Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and includes an evening of beer, roasted corn, red beans and rice and leisurely games of cornhole.

Tickets are $30 with all of the money going to LLS.

Formerly the executive chef of L√ľke San Antonio, McHugh will open his first restaurant, Cured, later this year at the Pearl Brewery. He is a passionate supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Diagnosed with lymphoma in January 2010, he received treatment shortly after relocating to San Antonio from New Orleans. Now in remission, he has thrown his support behind the organization and its mission to cure blood cancers.
