The Kitchen at Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard announces that it has hired Alfred Sanchez to take over as chef. Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard is about a 25-minute drive from downtown San Antonio and is owned by Texas pioneering olive grower Saundra Winokur.
Sanchez comes to Sandy Oaks from Paesano’s Restaurant, and also has worked for well-known chef and restaurateur John Besh at his Lüke San Antonio restaurant and at Tomadachi Sushi in Austin. He studied in Austin at Le Cordon Bleu College, specializing in French cuisine.
Earlier this year, Sanchez was named to Best Chefs America by other chefs and culinary professionals. His specialties are Asian, French and Italian cuisine, which he likes to incorporate and infuse into American dishes. Sanchez’s philosophy is to use natural, fresh products. He likes to support local providers in the food industry. The new chef will be presenting a new and expanded menu which includes seafood, a variety of salads and desserts.
