The annual Culinaria 5K Wine and Beer Run knows how to attract a crowd. Offer folks a chance to exercise by running or walking a few miles, then reward their efforts with plenty of wine, beer and, OK, some water at the finish.

Of course, there were plenty of other treats for the participants. Restaurants filling one plaza area in the Shops at La Cantera offered plenty of food, such as pancakes from the Magnolia Pancake Haus, waffles from the St. Anthony Hotel and hummus from Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill. Healthy choices from Zedric's and Crave Market were available along with a series of treats from H-E-B and more. The temping foods and drinks may be just rewards, but the participants — and there were about 1,800 of them — were really there to run, walk, push strollers and get active at 8 on a Saturday morning. When the results were calculated, the following winners were announced with their overall time and their per-mile time:
