Mother’s Day Brunch: An Abundance of Delicious Options

Biga on the Banks, 203 St. Mary’s St. 210-225-0722 — Mother’s Day brunch hours are 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Enjoy a spread of appetizers, salads, seafood, sushi before choosing a main course from the menu. Choices include Maine lobster omelet, apple cider-braised pork, Brioche French toast and roasted beef rib-eye. (Prices vary per dish.) The dessert buffet includes Bread Pudding, Fruit Crumble, Lemon Raspberry Mousse Martini, Tiramisu Trifle, Fruit Soup, Baileys Creme Brulee, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Praline Eclaires, Chocolate Pannacotta with Cappuccino Brownie, Boozy Ganache Brownie, Peanut Butter Cheesecake, Mini Turtle Tarts and Tropical Mousse Cake. Then head upstairs for Akaushi beef, executive chef and owner Mark Bohanan’s custom cuts of prime aged corn-fed beef, seafood flown in fresh daily, and table-side desserts flambé. In honor of Mother’s Day, all mothers will receive a complimentary yellow rose.

Shrimp Stuffed AvocadosBoiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden, 312 Pearl Parkway, 210-354-4644 — Mother’s Day brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the regular menu offered plus some specials from executive chef Jeff White and his team. Highlights include Caballero Ranchero with barbacoa, smoked bacon, jalapeño jack and smoked cheddar cheese, charred tomatillo salsa on grilled bread topped with two eggs and ranchero diablo sauce; Lobster Cobb Salad with lobster, bacon, egg, tomato, romaine lettuce and avocado Meyer lemon dressing; Pan-Roasted Salmon with warm German potato salad and mustard hollandaise; Ultimate Steak and Eggs with roasted prime rib and two poached eggs, jus, popcorn grits and green chile hollandaise; and Double Dutch Chocolate Cake, three layer Godiva and crème fraiche chocolate cake with dark chocolate butter cream and shaved white chocolate fondue.

Crumpets, 3920 Harry Wurzbach, (210) 821-5600 — Mother’s Day hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The menu begins with a choice of appetizer: Puff Pastry with White Wine Mushroom Sauce, Scottish Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese or Mousse Truffle Paté, followed by a choice of entree: Shrimp Salad on Avocado, Eggs Benedict or Chicken Breast with Champagne Sauce ($29.50); Veal Scaloppini with Mushroom Cognac Sauce, Fresh Alaskan Salmon, Beef Rib-eye with Green Peppercorn or Bordeaux Mushroom Sauce, or Shrimp Lyonnaise ($39.50); Trilogy of Beef Tenderloin with Rossini Sauce, Lobster Tail and Rack of Lamb Provençal ($49.50). Entree options include Eggs Benedict, baked brioche French toast, prime rib and prime rib hash. Mothers receive one $25 gift card with each reservation.

French ToastGreen Vegetarian, 200 E. Grayson St., 210-320-5865, Pearl Brewery — The restaurant will be open during their normal Sunday hours, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar, 1287 Gruene Road, New Braunfels, 830-606-1281 Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mother’s Day. Favorites from the menu include Beef Tenderloin Salad with creamy vinaigrette, Pepper Filet with herb-lime butter, and the Gruene Country Club with special prime sauce. Jack Daniel’s Pecan Pie, Fudge Pie with Blue Bell or Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. For the more casual celebration, have a burger or chicken-fried steak with cream gravy. Dine on tree-covered decks overlooking the beautiful river or in a rustic room with high-pitched tin roofed ceilings.

Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels, 830-629-5077 The Gospel Brunch with a Twist will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. All-you-can-eat buffet priced at $30 for adults (includes a mimosa) and $15 for kids. Entertainment by Bret Graham and The Gospel Silvertones. Buffet features roasted beef and turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, migas, Falls City pepper bacon, Smoked wedding sausage, buttermilk biscuits and cream gravy, scrambled eggs, Texas French toast, fried apples, fresh seasonal fruits, fruit juices, iced tea, coffee & soft drinks. Hilton Palacio del Rio, 200 S. Alamo St., (210) 224-3357 — Mother’s Day seatings are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Chef James Bocanegra and his team are planning an elaborate brunch buffet with a spring menu. A chocolate gift for every mom. A complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Complimentary valet parking. Prices are $40.95 for adults, $37.95 for seniors, $22.95 for children ages 6-10 and free for children 5 and younger.

Hyatt Hill Country Resort, 9800 Hyatt Resort Drive, 210-767-7999 — Mother’s Day brunch buffet hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The menu will include traditional breakfast selections such as pancakes, sausage, brisket hash and personalized omelets as well as some unique offerings like a surf and turf station, pasta buffet, soups, salads and a “high tea” featuring quiche, biscotti, cheese blintz, scones and a wide variety of teas. A selection of side items will be available as well as a variety of desserts including almond croissants, chocolate truffles, sorbet and much more! A children’s buffet will feature traditional favorites and healthy options. Prices: $54.95 for adults, $44.95 for seniors age 60+, $26 for children age 6-12.

Il Sogno, 200 E. Grayson St. at Pearl, 210-223-3900 — Will be open from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

JW Marriott, 23808 Resort Parkway, (210) 483-6622 — Mother’s Day will feature a brunch at the resort’s 18 Oaks restaurant. The spread will include fresh seafood, cured meats and local spreads and breakfast offerings including poached eggs and cheesy grits, grilled quail with maple glaze, decadent waffles and more. A Bloody Mary bar is included in the price and served along with an extended menu especially for Mother’s Day. Prices: $55 for adults and $16 for children 12 and under.

La Gloria, 100 E. Grayson St., (210) 267-9040 — The restaurant will be open during their regular Sunday hours from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Las Canarias at the Omni La Mansion del Rio, 112 College St., 210-518-1177 — Las Canarias will have a special Mother’s Day brunch, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $72 for adults and $36 for children ages 6-12.  Regular à la carte dining at Las Canarias will resume at 5:30 pm. Dale Miller paellaLas Ramblas in the Hotel Contessa, 306 W. Market St., 210-298-8040 — Mother’s Day brunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Chef Jordan Mackey’s display includes applewood smoked prime rib, Moroccan maple glazed ham, honey glazed roasted turkey breast and a seafood bar with cocktail prawns, marinated mussels, ceviches and crab claws. Paella Valencia, roasted salmon and pasta will also highlight the chef’s savory kitchen table. Artisan cheeses and Spanish cured meats in addition to freshly baked ciabatta and flatbreads will also be served. Waffle and omelet stations, fresh vegetables and homemade soups also highlight the menu. A children’s buffet of favorites will include macaroni and cheese, mini corn dogs, chicken tenders and pizza. Price: $49 for adults and $16 for children ages 7-16. The addition of sangria or mimosa to accompany brunch is $9 per person.

Liberty Bar, 1111 S. Alamo St., 210.227.1187. The usual full Sunday brunch menu will be available, along with some Mother’s Day special options.All moms will receive a free mimosa or champagne. In addition, Liberty Bar offers the appetizer option of Grilled Hill Country quail with mole verde. Plus, Cafe y Azucar Pork Chops with Grilled Pears; House-churned Espresso Ice Cream; Liberty Strawberry Shortcake and Choco-Flan.

Little Gretel, 518 River Road, Boerne, 830-331-1368 — Little Gretel is celebrating Mother’s Day on Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, with a three-course special priced at $39.99 a person. Entree choices include Filet Mignon with Shrimp or Sesame Chicken. On Mother’s Day, the brunch will be served 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. with no reservations.

Little Rhein Steak House, 231 Alamo St., 210-225-2111 — Mother’s Day Brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The meal begins with a choice of Lobster Bisque, Spring Mix Salad or Caprese Salad. Main course options: Prime Rib with Asparagus, Grilled Salmon Salad with lump crab, Airline Chicken Marsala, Beef Tenderloin Benedict, Jumbo Lump Crab Benedict, and Smoked Salmon Benedict. Dessert choices: Mud Ball with Vanilla Ice Cream, Oreo Cookie Crumbs and Chocolate Sauce or Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Price: $34.95 a person.

Los Patios, 2015 NE Loop 410, 210-655-6171 — The Mother’s Day buffet is from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. with stations that include salads, french onion soup, carved prime rib and lamb, entrées to include chicken and poblano crepes, vegetables, homemade desserts and chicken fingers with gravy for the children. Prices: $38.95, adults; $33.95, seniors (65 plus); $19.95, children (4-12); and free for children 3 and younger. Champagne or mimosas $4 a glass.

Luce Ristorante e Enoteca, 11255 Huebner Road, 210-561-9700 — Mother’s Day brunch hours are noon to 7 p.m. The three-course prix fixe begins with a choice of Caesar Salad or Caprese salad, followed by Roasted Prime Eye of the Rib with Rosemary Yukon Gold Potatoes. Dessert choices: Spumoni, Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée or Chocolate Lava Torta with Vanilla Gelato. Price is $37.95. The regular menu and a children’s menu are also available.

Max’s Wine Dive, 340 E. Basse Road, 210-444-9547 — Executive chef Justin Johnson and his team will serve Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. In addition to the chef’s specials the brunch menu will also be available. Highlights include the Fried Egg Sandwich with three pan-fried eggs topped with sea salt, applewood smoked bacon, Gruyere, butter lettuce, tomatoes and garlic black truffle aioli sandwiched between two pieces of New World Bakery sourdough bread with hand-cut truffle chips as well as Snickerdoodle French Toast, walnut-crusted french toast topped with whipped cream, caramel and toasted coconut flakes.

Mike’s in the Village, 2355 Bulverde Road, Bulverde, 830-438-2747 — Mother’s Day Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices for the prix-fixe menu are $28.95 for adults. First course is a choice of Fiesta Salad, Caesar Salad or Baby Spinach Salad, followed by a choice of: Herb Roasted Turkey Breast, Grilled Fresh Wild Caught Salmon with Lemon and Capers, Creole Seasoned Prime Rib or Eggs Benedict. Dessert choices: White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Cinnamon Sauce; Strawberry Crepes with Chocolate Drizzle; and Bananas Foster. The kids’ menu includes grilled cheese, grilled chicken, pancakes and chicken tenders. Moms get one free Champagne drink.

Myron’s Prime Steakhouse, 10003 N.W. Military Hwy., 210-493-3031 — Mother’s Day hours are 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. with the full menu available.

Nao, 312 Pearl Parkway, 210-554-6484 — Mother’s Day brunch will be served 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. A complimentary signature cocktail for mom will be followed by family-style appetizers, including char-grilled shishito peppers, huitlacoche risotto, panela and botija olive tapenade, salmon ceviche and heart of palm salad. Choice of entree: Bahian seafood lobster sew, “Black Bajio” Roasted Chicken or Smoke Roasted Rib-eye Steak. Family-style dessert is strawberry cobbler with Mexican vanilla ice cream and churros with dipping sauces. Price is $48 for adults and $24 for children under 12.

Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade, 9821 Colonnade Blvd., 210-699-5803 — The Mother’s Day brunch begins at 10:30 a.m. with the last seating at 2 p.m. Buffet items include Applewood Smoked Bacon, Smoked Chicken and Apple Sausage, Green Chile Eggs Benedict, Cinnamon Sugar Dusted Cheese Blintz, an omelet station, seasonal fruit, Warm Butter Croissants and Fruit Danish, muffins, pan dulce, salads, cheeses and cured meats. Entrees: Roasted Pork Chops smothered with Brandy Apple Reduction, Pan Seared White Fish in a Cilantro Lime Marinade, Grilled Chicken Florentine on Cream of Spinach Veloute. Carved-to-Order: Oven Roasted Prime Rib with Red Wine Jus, Achiote Rubbed Turkey Breast and Dried Fruit Compote, Pepper Crusted Bone-In Leg of Lamb. Ostra at the Mokara Hotel & Spa, 212 W. Crockett St., 210-396-5817 — Breakfast will be available at Ostra beginning at 6:30 a.m. Ostra’s regular à la carte menu will be available during breakfast and lunch. Featured specials will be offered during dinner service only beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Q on the Riverwalk at the San Antonio Hyatt, 123 Losoya St., 210-510-4477 — The Mother’s Day Brunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Features of the buffet include a seafood station with prawns, mussels and oysters, a variety of salads and soups, omelets cooked to order, Smoked Berkshire Pork Hash with Fried Eggs, Buttermilk Pancakes, Chicken Jalapeno Sausage and Smoked Bacon. Entrees include Broiled Sea Bass with Herb Butter, Seared All Natural Chicken Breast with Smoked Tomato and Roasted Corn Salsa, and Southside Market Smoked Sausages. Carving Station items: Cedar River Farms All Natural Beef Rib-Eye, and Bone-In Ham. The menu includes Smoked Salmon & Avocado Benedict; Pannetone French Toast; Oven Roasted Gulf Snapper; a carving station serving Oven Roasted Prime Rib; a Chef’s Omelette Station with an array of chef-inspired fillings; a wide selection of seafood, including Sustenio’s signature Crudo, Poached Jumbo Shrimp and Crab Claws; and a full assortment of local artisan cheeses, seasonal fruits, Mediterranean-inspired side dishes and salads, along with a Chef’s Display of Pastries and Desserts. white wine1Tre Trattoria Alamo Heights, 4003 Broadway, 210- 805-0333 — Mother’s Day brunch hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will feature a four-course pre fixe brunch menu for $40 with an additional $20 wine pairing option and a children’s menu available for $11. Menu items include: Crispy Skin Rainbow Trout with Farmers Market Selections, Family-style Italian Cheese Selections, Petite Tuscan Marinated Ribeye ($8 supplement) and Signature Nutella X3. Regular dinner menu and hours will follow the brunch.

Tre Trattoria Downtown at the Fairmount Hotel, 401 S. Alamo St., 210-223-0401 — The Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It includes a four-course prix fixe menu for $40 per guest, includes complimentary valet parking. Optional wine pairings and full cocktail bar is available. Menu items include: Nutella Stuffed French Toast with Caramelized Bananas and Nutella Chantilly, Family-Style Italian Cheese Platter, and “Steak and Eggs ” Tuscan Marinated Ribeye and Eggs with Farmers Market Selections ($8 supplement) as well as Pecan Coffee Cake. Tuk Tuk Taproom, 1702 Broadway, 210-222-8277 — The Mother’s Day Dim Sum Pajama Brunch will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. People are encouraged to wear their PJs. Prices: $25 for adults, $14.50 for children under 14.

Umai Mi, 555 W. Bitters Road, 210-496-0555 – Mother’s Day Dim Sum Service will be from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will include a complimentary apertif for mothers. Menu Items include: House-made Dumplings, Farmer’s Market Selections from our custom crafted Robata Grill and Thai “Thai Iced Coffee” Coffee Cake, Condensed Milk Caramel, Cardamom Palm Sugar Icing, Vanilla Sour Cream and “Crumble.”
