Join the Spurs Fan Food Fight, Donate to Food Bank

During the Western Conference Finals, Spurs and Thunder fans are going head-to-head to see which city can donate the most to their own area food bank. So far the Spurs fans have donated $1,632 and the Thunder fans have donated $2,830, join the fight and donate today!

San Antonio Spurs logoThe Spurs helped sort food at the Food Bank, so now they’re asking fans to help out with the stocking of this valuable resource to the community.

The food bank with the most money raised wins the competition, but the children of South Texas will be the real winners as all proceeds donated go to help feed local families.

Rollin’ on the River Rally at TacoLand Thursday

 Rollin’ on the River Rally at TacoLand is Thursday (May 29) from 6-9 p.m.. It’s an offshoot of the ever-popular Swig bike night downtown.

In conjunction with Cowboy Alamo City Harley-Davidson, riders will rally up the river and end their ride at Tacoland this Thursday. Bikers encouraged but of course all are welcome.

Tacoland, at 103 W. Grayson, will have beer and drink specials throughout the night and will be serving their Tacoland burgers and Monster Truck Tacos, too. Live band. Elmira Street will be closed for bike parking.

Rivertini Pour-off June 9

ZooBallThe RiverTini Pour-Off is an annual competition featuring some of the city’s top bars and restaurants mixing specialty martinis that reflect the fresh and lively spirit of the San Antonio River. Cinco Vodka is sponsoring this event which raises funds for the San Antonio River Foundation and celebrates the ongoing efforts to bring recreation, public art and educational opportunities along the San Antonio River expansions.

This year’s event will support Confluence Park, an innovative water education park SARF is building on the Mission Reach.

Green Field’s new ownership celebrates 1 year with grand ‘re-opening’

Green Fields’ Market on Stone Oak, which changed hands a year ago, will have a grand re-opening on Monday, giving away raffle prizes and samples, says one of the owners, Chamin Canchwara.

French bread bakers rackCanchwara says after a ribbon-cutting, customers are also welcome to discuss the things they would like to see in the market. Meanwhile, customers can expect to see local farmers bringing in produce two-to-three times a week that is pesticide free, as well as people making skincare products locally and other vendors.
