John Griffin, co-founder, editor
John Griffin is a freelance editor and award-winning writer, specializing in restaurant criticism, food, wine and travel. He moved to San Antonio in 1999 from Sarasota, Fla., to become dining editor for the San Antonio Express-News. The newspaper’s Taste section won two national awards from the Association of Food Journalists in the time that he was in that position.

Griffin has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. His food and wine articles have appeared in newspapers and magazines throughout the country. He has pursued wine studies at the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone campus, in St. Helena, CA.  and has taken food classes from renowned chefs from all over the world. An avid traveler, Griffin has explored the cuisines in the rich food cultures of Brazil, Chile, South Africa, Spain, Germany and more.

A judge for international wine competitions, Griffin also participates in local culinary events and frequently called upon to be a judge. He is a former editor of San Antonio Taste magazine and contributor to Destinations, a local guide on food, events and travel in the San Antonio area.

Bonnie Walker, co-founder, editor

Bonnie Walker has been a food and wine writer and freelance editor in San Antonio for more than 17 years.  Her professional culinary training and restaurant experience was with European chefs when she was in her twenties.   She received a bachelor’s of science in Consumer Services in Food, as well as a bachelor’s of arts in Journalism, from the University of Arizona. She pursued wine studies at Greystone, the Culinary Institute of America’s campus in Napa, and has taken dozens of classes from world-renowned chefs.

A co-founder of SavorSa, as well as writer and editor, Walker is a former editor of San Antonio Taste magazine and was food writer for the San Antonio Express-News for nearly 15 years. The food section won two national awards during her tenure at the newspaper.  Her articles have been published throughout the country and most recently have appeared in San Antonio Magazine, Taste of the South, San Antonio Taste, San Antonio Business Journal and the San Antonio Current.

Walker has pursued her food and wine interests while traveling through Britain, Spain, France and Austria, as well as to Central Europe and Mexico.
