Mother’s Day arrives on May 10, so it’s time to think of how you’re going to thank Mom for all she’s done for you. One way you can show your appreciation is by taking her out for a special meal. Asado Seafood & Grill at the Hilton San Antonio Airport, 611 N.W. 410, (210) 377-4653 — Mother’s Day brunch is served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Buffet features include salads, smoked salmon and gravlax, oysters, peel and eat shrimp, crab claws, hickory-smoked prime rib, grilled salmon, an omelet station, vegetable stuffed chicken, crepes, French toast and more. Prices are $29.95 for adults, $24.95 for seniors and $14.94 for children.
Biga on the Banks, 203 S. St. Mary’s St., (210) 255-0722 — Brunch will be served 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrees like Roasted Ribeye of Beef, green chili tomatillo pork stew with queso fresco, and warm Scottish salmon crepes with egg vinaigrette share the spot light with more breakfast-style offerings including a Maine Lobster Frittata and a Biga take on Eggs Benedict. Then you can help yourself to an array of appetizers, salads, muffins, sushi, antipasto and a host of different desserts. There is also a kids’ dessert table. Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden, 312 Pearl Parkway, (210) 354-4644 — Mother’s Day brunch is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chef Jeff White has a series of specials in addition to the regular menu. They include: Boiler House Monte Cristo served with Foie Gras Peanut Butter, Smoked Strawberry Jam, Salted Caramel Bananas and Candied Walnuts for $15; Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Fresh Lemon Curd, Raspberry and Southern Chantilly Cream for $14; Cracklin Crusted Soft Shell Crab with Local Bluebonnet Farms Watercress, Radish and Old Bay Hollandaise for $17; Brisket Biscuits and Gravy made with House Smoked Brisket, Buttermilk Jalapeño Biscuits, House-made Pickles, Aged Cheddar and Bacon Gravy for $14; and Lobster “Cobb Salad” made with Butter Poached Lobster, Crispy Pork Belly, Hard Boiled Egg and Peppercress for $19.

Entrée choices include Shrimp Salad, Eggs Benefict or Chicken Breast with Champagne Sauce ($29.50 each); Veal Scaloppini, Fresh Alaskan Salmon, Beef Ribeye or Shrimp Lyonnaise ($39.50 each); or Trilogy of Beef Tenderloin, Lobster Tail and Rack of Lamb ($49.50). Citrus at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, 150 East Houston St. (210) 230-8412 — Mothers Day brunch will be prepared by chef Robbie Nowlin and his great team. The buffet menu includes an array of artisanal charcuterie, oysters, grilled artichoke antipasti, brioche french toast, citrus eggs Benedict, truffled macaroni and cheese gratin, pan-seared Atlantic salmon, slow-roasted prime beef ribeye chimichurri, roasted airline turkey breast, caramelized white chocolate custard macadamia streusel and much more. Jack Daniel’s Pecan Pie, Fudge Pie, or Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. For the more casual celebration have one of our juicy burgers or famous chicken fried steaks with cream gravy.

Las Canarias at the Omni La Mansion del Rio, 112 College St., (210) 518-1063 —Mother’s Day brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The extensive buffet features eggs and omelets made to order, bacon, sausages, bananas foster, quiche, chilled shrimp, crab claws, smoked salmon, salads, charcuterie, blackened red fish, roasted breast of chicken, beef skirt steak, prime rib, center cut pork loin, turkey and desserts. Price is $72 for adults and $36 for children ages 6-12.

Mimi’s Cafe, 17315 I-10 W., (210) 877-5792 — Mimi’s is offering a three-course menu for $16.99, which includes a choice of Soup, Salad or Croissant/Muffin as well as a choice of Brioche French Toast; Egg, Spinach and Cheese Crepes; Santa Fe Omelet; Chicken Chop Salad; Quiche Florentine; and Brioche Cheeseburger. Dessert is a Triple Croissant Bread Pudding made with a chocolate and almond croissant, salted caramel and whipped cream. Mothers can also enjoy $5 Mimi-Mosas made with fresh-squeezed orange juice and a Tangerine burst, while their children color a special menu, which doubles as a Mother’s Day Card.
